65kms, 24hrs, 1 Region... Waterloo Region Crossing.

Last February, Dave, Tessa, and I trekked for 20 hours non-stop, traversing 65kms from Cambridge to West Montrose. The purpose of our journey was to raise awareness of the risks of exposure for homeless citizens and to raise funds for The Working Centre. The three of us raised enough funds in six weeks to feed 400 people in our community twice a day for an entire week. Is was incredible.

Due to the success, we felt that Waterloo Region Crossing had to become its own entity. Now a nonprofit organization, we opened the event registration for broader community reach, impact, and engagement. This February, we have over 100 trekkers and crew committed to the journey, and we've collectively raised over $30000 to date. All funds will be donated to The Working Centre for their new affordable housing units.

Like last year, our trek group will be equipped with a SPOT tracking device, which will update our precise location every ten minutes, allowing friends and family to follow our progress throughout the journey.

It's been a journey to get here, and it's hard to believe trek day is tomorrow. It's amazing how much this event has grown in a year.

Waterloo Region Crossing is still taking donations, please visit https://www.gofundme.com/waterlooregioncrossing to help us combat poverty in Waterloo Region!
